This is James. That's not a slippery look, he is casually looking away where you can't see. There could be a child playing or a dog running in circles, or an elderly person fiddling with something stuck on a plastic bag where James is watching; but he is watching and thinking. Planning. Putting a project in order in his head. You can't see it yet, but you will.

I like the intelligent look in his eyes, and the sense of intention, as you say, like he will be doing something. I also like the sky in the background, the painting's proportions, and the balance of lights and darks. I'm wondering when you added these?
